Meet Dr. Mark Wheeler
Dr. Mark Wheeler received his Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University and completed his dental doctorate at Oregon Health Science University, in Portland Oregon. Upon completion of his degree, Dr. Wheeler served his country in the United States Navy Dental Corps, in Okinawa, Japan. While overseas, Dr. Wheeler completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, working with specialists in oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, and pediatric dentistry.
While serving in the Navy, he performed emergency dental care in a field surgical unit in the Queensland, Australia outback. In the Philippines, he served a humanitarian mission that provided much needed dental treatment to hundreds of nationals. Dr. Wheeler received a Navy Marine Corp Achievement Medal for his outstanding service under hostile conditions.

Dr. Emily Tarr began her career as a chairside dental assistant, gaining six years of hands-on experience before entering dental school in 2021. Her passion for expanding access to oral health care was sparked during a 2013 outreach trip to Honduras, where she helped establish pop-up dental clinics around the outskirts of Tela. By 2019, her dedication and leadership led her to the role of Director of Dental Operations for One World Brigades in Oregon, supporting international service initiatives.
While attending Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Arizona, Dr. Tarr continued her commitment to community service. As president of her school’s American Student Dental Association chapter, she organized impactful initiatives including an Oral Cancer Walk, an Oral Hygiene Kit Drive for Maggie’s Place, and District 10 conferences in San Diego and Seattle.
She has actively contributed to events like Give Kids a Smile and the Arizona Mission of Mercy, demonstrating her passion for improving access to care, promoting oral health education, and serving vulnerable populations. Dr. Tarr is equally dedicated to advancing patient care, advocating for the dental profession, and contributing to research on the oral-systemic health connection. Her mission is rooted in creating meaningful, lasting change in the field of dentistry.
